Journal Entry #1: Getting My Life Back

Lately, my spirit has been telling me that it’s time to be free. Like… really free. I need to express myself out in the open, not just hide in the house all the time. I truly need to live my life.

So, I’m determined to get to a place where I can be myself again without fear.

To start, I’ve been slowly easing into the world again, testing the waters. I recently started traveling and going to concerts and sports games with my sister, and honestly? It’s been amazing.

We went to Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour on opening night, and it was so much fun. I forgot how many of her songs I actually knew, lol! Then, like a week later, we went to see the LA Sparks vs. Chicago Sky at the Crypto (arena), and that was a vibe too. We even got T-shirts. I love free stuff, okay?! 😂

But the scariest thing I did? I traveled across the country. Whew.

See, I’ve had a fear of heights since I was a kid. I’ve been on a plane before years and years ago, but life has “lifed” since then, if you know what I mean. So this time, I flew out of a smaller airport to hopefully avoid the crowd-induced anxiety. I even made sure there was a layover, just so I didn’t have to use the airplane toilet (you know you can get parasites from those? I’m not even joking).

Anyway… I did not like the Denver airport. It just felt weird, and the people there had stanky-butt attitudes. 😒 But once we got back on the plane, I was good, until I started feeling sick. I struggle with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), so my heart rate went wild, and my legs started swelling. That’s a story for another day.

Once we landed in D.C., things got better. It rained out of nowhere, so we had to wait a bit for our ride. But once we got settled, we were good. (And when I say we, I mean me and my sister.)

While in D.C., we explored a little and even went to the Bible Museum. It was so beautiful. My Granny would’ve loved it. We went in her honor. She passed suddenly during lockdown, and that’s another story for another time… but we definitely felt her presence there. It was emotional in the best way.

Of course, we got souvenirs. We love a good fridge magnet lol.

After a few days, it was time to head home. This time, I had a layover in Dallas, and let me just say… never again. That airport felt like a maze. But we made our flight, and surprisingly, got home faster than I expected.

The whole journey was beautiful, but child, I was so tired. I slept for the rest of the day lol.

But I’m proud of myself.

I want to travel again and explore everything life has for me. I’m going to do my best to not only try new things, but also do the things I used to love.

Anyway, thanks for being here. And if you’ve read this far leave a comment if you’d like.
