Day 6 – Focusing on Gratitude

Today, I wanted to slow down and reconnect with God and with myself. I put on worship music, let my voice flow, and really focused on gratitude, for my body, for my breath, for every little thing I can do. I spoke directly to my body, reminding it that it is safe, cared for, and loved. I reminded myself that God lives within me, so I am never disconnected, even in moments of stress or fear. I could feel my nervous system calming. Gratitude shifts the brain into a state of safety, which lowers stress hormones and helps the body rest and repair. Praising and connecting with Spirit also deepens…

Day 5 – Increasing Water Intake & Supplements

Today, I focused on hydration and giving my body the nutrients it needs to support healing. I made a conscious effort to drink more water throughout the day. I kept a bottle nearby, and I was refilling often. Along with that, I took my daily supplements, which I’ve been building into my routine to support not just my nervous system, but my overall health. I went online and made sure that all of the supplements were compatible, and I made sure to look at the best times to take them. My Supplement Routine Morning: Before or after lunch: Afternoon: Bedtime: Alternating days: Benefits for the Nervous System Today reminded me…

Day 4 – Exploring Eastern Medicine Movements

Today I started looking into Eastern medicine practices that could support my nervous system, specifically movement-based ones. Things like Tai Chi, Qigong, and certain styles of yoga focus on slow, intentional movements that flow with the breath. Doing anything slow is hard for me. I have always been a fast-paced person. But, since I have had to deal with health issues like PCOS, POTS, and Fibromyalgia, I can not do anything that is going to raise my heart rate or cortisol like i used to. In order for me to heal these issues, I have to take my time and really focus on being slow and intentional with my movements.…

Day 3 – Deep Breathing & Sitting in Silence

Today’s focus was quiet both in my breath and my mind. I wanted to try deep breathing, but I was a little fishy about it. It seems so simple; therefore, I kind of assumed it wouldn’t be so helpful. When I really sat down and thought about it, I realized I don’t even breathe correctly. Now, I know that sounds bad and a little dramatic, but I’m being so for real right now. I noticed that I kind of hold my breath, or I don’t take deep breaths like a normal person should. I can assure you it’s from a trauma response. The feeling that you have to hold your…

Day 2 – Grounding in Nature

Today I decided to step outside, soak in some sunshine, and connect with the earth. I wanted to ground myself literally and figuratively. I took my shoes off, let my bare feet touch the grass, and just stood there for a while. I closed my eyes, felt the breeze, and let the sun wrap around me. I was also hoping that I could even out this tan that I got from the beach a couple of weeks ago. So there were other motives. lol While the sun was hitting my skin, I said to myself that I am safe, I am loved, and I am grateful for all things. I…

Day 1: Healing My Nervous System with the Chi Machine

Today marks the beginning of my journey to heal and regulate my nervous system. I promised myself I would start gently, without pushing my body into more stress. It seems impossible, but I am so fed up with feeling like this that I have to try. For my first activity, I chose something that required minimal effort but could still give my body a boost: the Chi Machine. It was my Granny’s and we used to use it every once in a while when we would visit her. She used it when we she wanted to “move” her body without having to do acutally do anything. I set the timer…

Why Is Healing the Nervous System So Hard?

I’ve been thinking a lot about why healing the nervous system feels so impossible sometimes. It’s something that’s at the center of everything: your emotions, your reactions, your body, your sleep, your digestion, your ability to feel safe. Honestly, I feel like it affects your money, too! When your nervous system is dysregulated, it touches every part of your life. I thought I had tried everything.Natural remedies.Doctor prescribed medicine.Breathwork.Supplements.Prayer. Still, it felt like nothing was really working. I would feel better for a moment, then crash. Or I’d have a good week and then get triggered again and spiral. I kept wondering: Why is this so hard? So, I started…

    Back at It Again…

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how long I’ve been doing this whole blogging thing. It actually started when I was around 12 or 13 years old. Back then, I had a Blogger account and would write my heart out, mostly just releasing emotions that I didn’t know how to express any other way. It was never really about who read it. It was about getting it out of me. I also had a blog on the original WordPress. I loved that space. I could talk to people online, share my thoughts freely, and not feel judged. Socializing in person was always hard for me. I struggled with bullying growing up,…
